This truck is a 1999 international, mid-ship mount, from E1 superior. This is a closed mid-ship truck, with a bench seat that enables four personal to BA up at the same time. The mid-ship and officer position are only in contact through a phone, as the mid-ship is not open to the front. Under the bench seat are two 38 lines, with the drivers side being capable of flowing foam. There is a monitor located just behind the mid-ship. The hose bed has 1000ft of high vol hose, along with cisco load on top of 150m of 65, and to the far right of the bed is a 65 pre-connect with 45m on it. Our pump carries 800 gallons on it at all times. This truck has the ability to flow 5000L/min, and with the 6m of hard suction can draft from any appropriate water source near by. This truck has a total of 7 BA's on it with 8 spare bottles, an ejection fan, pike poles, a 12' roof ladder and 24' extension ladder, a k-12 rescue saw, a rescue chain saw, and some more medical equipment.
59 rescue is the most versatile rig at our station. It is a 2003, 4x4, four door, Ford F-550, from Superior Trucks. It responds on all medical calls we receive, form an alpha to echo determinate. The rescue also carries all of our tools for vehicle extrication, from the Jaws of Life, to the lifting bag. As well, the rescue also has the ability to tow either our boat or sea-doo at anytime, and for water related calls during the winter months, has a couple of ice rescue suits on it, along with an ice rescue sled and an inflatable raft. Besides medicals and ice/water rescues, it also goes to any house fire because it is equipped with extra SCBA's, and ventilation equipment.
The tank is a 95, 13 speed, split shift from international. This truck is used at all grass and structure fires as well, it is equipped with a directional bar which can be used as a safety vehicle at any motor vehicle accident. It carries 2800 gallons of water on it along with our drafting pool that can hold 1500 gallons. The tank is equipped with a PTO pump on it, which can draft or pump. On the officer side is a 2 stroke Honda pump; both of these pumps can fill the truck and pump out water to either the spray bar on the rear of the truck, or to two 38 hand lines at the front of the truck. The tank can also be filled straight off of a hydrant, whit the connection at the rear also being the dump into the pool. This truck has 45m of 38 pre connect on the drivers side, and a pony length of high vol in a locker on the driver side. We must watch where we draft from with this truck, as it is capable of hauling potable water if there is a need.
The boat is a 16 foot zodiak with a 150hp outboard motor. The boat has a few medical supplies on it and a fire extinguisher. There is a 25' throw bag, and a life ring on it as well. The boat will be used primarily on Chestermere Lake, but can go to other bodies of water if there is an appropriate launch site.
This is a 95 GMC flat bed 1 ton truck. This truck goes to all grass fires, and to any water rescues, as it is the primary truck that tows the boat or sea-doo. This truck has two hand lines beside both the driver and officer’s door, and a gated wye connection off the rear which has a quick connect and threaded connection. On either side of the bed are two utility boxes that hold rolls of 25mm quick connect hose and rolls of 38mm hose, first aid supplies, dust masks, and a fire extinguisher. Right behind the cab is a 3 shelf cage which has 2 SCBA's, fire brooms, 3 squirt packs, and a pitch fork. The bush buggy just got a rebuilt engine in 2004 along with new suspension, electrical, and body work, which was all done by our mechanic, Brian Pomeranki, (looks excellent Brian).
The sea-doo is a 2000 GTS. This piece of apparatus is extremely versatile for water related calls. It is capable of operating in up to 1 foot of water, which makes it able to go into streams, rivers, small bodies of water. This piece of apparatus has also been used by other departments and agencies as far away as Claresholm, because it is so versatile.
